The Borno State Police Command has paraded a 24-year-old young man, Usakahyel Adamu for killing his 90-year-old grandfather, Yakubu Ibrahim and 11 others for culpable homicide, vandalization, theft and drug criminal intimidation, and others.
Parading suspects at the Police headquarters, Maiduguri on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Office (PPRO), DSP Nahum Daso said ” CULPABLE HOMICIDE:- On the 7th July 2024 at about 1600HRS One Adamu Yakubu ‘M’ of Paga Gusi Village Kwaya – Kussar L.G.A reported at Kwaya Kusar Police Station that, on the same date at about 1400HRS his son one Usakahyel Adamu ‘M’ 24yrs used a hoe and hit his grandfather one Yakubu Ibrahim ‘M’ 90yrs on his head as a result he sustained serious injury and died on the spot,”
“Investigation further revealed that the said Usakahyel had an altercation with his grandfather on the allegation that his grandfather was insulting him and pushing him without any reasonable cause.
“The suspect has been arrested and the hoe was recovered and registered as an exhibit. Suspect will be charged to DPP for legal advice and prosecution”, ASP Daso said.
The command said, “Also, on the 4th of July, 2024 at about 0430HRS one Bulama Mulikabu M’ of Kautikari Village Chibok LGA reported at Chibok Police station that on the same date at about 0700HRS one Lydia Aji F’ 40yrs and her husband one Aji Makinta M’ had a violent fight which resulted to the wife Lydia Aji stroke her husband on his head with an axe and he died on the spot.”.
He Frutger explained that “Investigation further revealed that the couples had a misunderstanding over their daughter, Rachael Aji 13yrs who stole a goat and sold it to an unknown person, the angry father then asked them to leave his house. The case is still under investigation.”
“ARREST OF SUSPECTED DRUG PEDDLERS: On the 14th July 2024 at about 1800HRS Police Patrol team attached to Gwange Police Division, while on a snap stop and search OPERATION at Gwange Ward arrested three suspects 1. Abubakar Adam ‘m’ of the Ngomari Costine area of Maiduguri is in possession of 28 pieces of exile tablets. (2). Abba Mantrab ‘m’ of Gwange Sabon Gari area Maiduguri in possession of 47 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp. (3) Abubakar Mustapha ‘m’ of Gwange Sabon Layi in possession of 154 pieces of D5 tablet and 130 wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. Case will be charged to court after investigation the police added.
On the arrest of the syndicate who specializes in vandalization and theft of public infrastructure, the police said “On the 14th of July, 2024 at about 0600hrs Operatives of State Intelligence Department (SID) arrested five suspects; (1) Mamuda Gamboru 14 yrs, (2) Shuaibu Suleiman 33yrs (3) ISA Ali 16yrs, (4) Sabitu Aminu 17yrs, and (5) Inusa Adamu 18yrs all of Abuja Sheraton Maiduguri, who conspired amongst themselves and stole away 2 solar panels, 2 batteries and 2 inverters from a street light at layin Hadiza moduganari area.
He also said Police investigation further revealed that the syndicates specialize in vandalization of public infrastructures and shop breaking within and around Maiduguri Metropolis. The case will be charged to court after investigation.
“On the 16th of July, 2024 at about 1000HRS acting on credible information, one Manda Usman M’ 23yrs of Mashidmami Sulumri area, was arrested in possession of a stolen water sumo pump.
“Investigation further revealed that the suspect stole the water sumo pump at Mashidmami Sulumri and attempted to sell it to one Ali Adamu at the rate of N80,000 before he raised an alarm to the police. The case will be charged to court for prosecution. “, he added.
The command further said ” On the 7th July 2024 one Maidami Alhaji Bako of Moduganari ward reported to the command that an unknown private number with undisclosed identity called him severally via his telephone number and threatened to kill him if he didn’t pay the sum of two million Naira N2,000,000.
On the receipt of the complaint Police State Intelligence Department carried out a discreet investigation, and tracked and arrested three suspects namely; Mohammed Goni, Modu Mustapha and Mustapha Mohammed Lawan of the same address in Gwange Ward Maiduguri. The suspects have confessed to the crime and will be charged in court.”
