The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu were among thousands of dignitaries who attended former Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s mother’s burial, Chief Mrs Florence Morenike Saraki in Lagos.
Saturday Telegraph reports that Saraki laid his mother to rest on Friday in a ceremony attended by numerous dignitaries at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos, followed by a reception at Eko Hotels and Suites.
It would be recalled that Mrs Saraki, the matriarch of the Saraki family, passed away at the age of 88 on June 18, 2024.
Also in attendance were governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Caleb Muftwang (Plateau), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Duoye Diri (Bayelsa).
The event was also graced by top politicians, captains of industry, and other dignitaries, reflecting the widespread respect and admiration for the Saraki family.
Mrs. Florence Saraki, known for her philanthropic activities and contributions to her community, was remembered fondly by many who attended the service.
Recalls that Saraki confirmed the demise of his mother in a statement via his X handle, noting that details of the funeral will be shared in due course.
