Barcelona are reportedly on the verge of finalising a deal to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The move comes amid the news that Nico Williams appears set to remain with Athletic Club after confirming his commitment to the team via social media.
Williams, 22, recently returned to pre-season training with Athletic Club and expressed his excitement for the upcoming season in a social media post: “I’m back! I’m really looking forward to this season. Vamos, Athletic!”
With Williams seemingly set to stay with Athletic Club, Barcelona has shifted its attention to Olmo, who was instrumental in Spain’s triumphant Euro 2024 campaign.
The 26-year-old scored three goals and provided two assists, helping Spain secure their fourth European Championship.
His standout performances have attracted interest from several top clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
Barcelona is reportedly close to securing Olmo’s services for a transfer fee of €55 million, plus an additional €7 million in add-ons.
Dani Olmo, who left Barcelona for Dinamo Zagreb in 2014, is now set to return to the Catalan giants.
Despite dealing with injuries that limited him to 17 league appearances for RB Leipzig last season, Olmo still managed to score four goals and provide five assists.
Meanwhile, RB Leipzig has announced the re-signing of Xavi Simons for the 2024/25 campaign, offsetting the loss of Olmo.
