The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council in Kogi State has slammed the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the state for employing a failed strategy to discredit the judiciary by spreading fake news under the guise of APC.
Speaking in a press statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Media and Publicity, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the campaign council outrightly condemned SDP’s tactics of claiming judicial victories falsely attributed to the APC in an attempt to sway judicial outcomes.
Fanwo who taunted the SDP of its consistent usage of failed strategy stated how the party had previously used the same approach during the lower tribunal proceedings and appeal processes.
“The SDP’s blatant disrespect for the Judiciary, logic and truth has continued to put them on the precipice of ignominy.
“Their puerile and grossly unintelligent blackmail has continued to give them the result that represents the identity of the embattled party,” Fanwo said.
The APC further emphasized its strict adherence to the rule of law and unreserved trust in the Supreme Court to deliver a fair judgment without prejudice.
“It is our utmost belief that court cases are won in the law courts and not on the rough streets of propaganda.
“Our party and its candidate have put their defence before the Supreme Court and will allow the Honourable Justices do their job,” the statement reads.
The APC also urged the SDP to cease its attacks on governmental institutions noting the dilemma the party has found itself in isn’t enough reason to cast aspersions on the honourable justices.
“The woeful attempts of the SDP and its candidate to prove their allegations at the lower tribunal have gotten the better of them.
“Their frustration is understandable but not enough reason to tarnish the image of our honourable justices,” Fanwo remarked.
The APC however called on its supporters to ignore the alarm of falsehood coming from the opposition party and to remain focused and resolute to the party’s course.
