In commemoration of today’s “International Youth Day”, the President of a non-governmental organization, All Youths Reoriented Initiative of Nigeria (AYRION), Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has called on the Federal and State Governments to make youths development and provision of jobs in an enabling environment, a priority, in order to guide against future youths protests.
In a release he made available to New Telegraph in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, Ajadi also called on the Nigerian youths to shun any form of social vices such as drug addiction, Internet frauds, nefarious activities and other quick money solutions that have occupied the space in the country.
To the AYRION President, if the governments had created enabling environment and job opportunities for the youths, it would have kept them busy, noting that had this been done, the recent protests against the government would not have happened.
According to him, if the government had been able to provide job opportunities for at least 70 percent of the Nigerian youths, they would not have been on the streets for the protests.
Ajadi who is also a Chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP) and gubernatorial candidate of the the party in Ogun state in 2023 election said that if a recurrence of the last week’s protests would be avoided in the future, the governments at various levels should embark on creation of jobs for the youths.
“I am dedicated to the youth development because the youths are the leaders of tomorrow. So, if we want the future of the country to be bright, we need to take care of the youth. Nothing will stop me from promoting the development of the youth.
“I am also dedicated to the promotion of peace in the country because, without peace, the nation cannot progress”, he said.
