Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) Austin Eguavoen, former U-20 national team coach Ladan Bosso, and the innovative Fidelis Ilechukwu, head coach of NPFL side Enugu Rangers have been tipped for roles in the next technical bench of the Super Eagles.
The NFF is set to name an expatriate for the Eagles and according to SCORENigeria, Eguavoen has been tipped to work closely with the soon-tobe-appointed coach.
The former Eagles captain is being considered for the role following the resignation of erstwhile manager Finidi George. It is believed that Eguavoen’s role will be critical in the new setup as the man who understands the squad having worked with most of the players.
This is role the former Super Eagles skipper ought to have played with previous Super Eagles coaches like Gernot Rohr and Jose Peseiro, but he could not because the NFF did not compel those foreign coaches to work hand-in-hand with him.
“Eguavoen will be the main technical link between the new Super Eagles coach (Andersson) and the team,” an inside source informed SCORENigeria “He will provide all the necessary information and details on the players to help the new coach and hopefully this will continue for a long time.”
Ilechukwu and Bosso are among the names being considered by the NFF to serve as local assistants to new Super Eagles coach.
