Sports Minister, John Enoh, has admitted that it is “very embarrassing and most regrettable” that German coach Bruno Labbadia walked out on the Super Eagles after he was appointed as coach.
NFF announced the appointment of Labbadia and days later the coach told the German media he will he would not be the next coach of Nigeria. “This was very embarrassing and regrettable,”
Enoh admitted on Arise TV yesterday “I immediately got across to the NFF on this and asked why go public on an appointment of a coach when you have not concluded.
“Their defence is that they got a commitment from the coach on this.” The sports minister also said the appointment of Augustine Eguavoen as interim Super Eagles coach has won the NFF “a little more time” to sort out the issue of a coach for the country’s football team.
He said: “The back and forth behind the scenes” has caused the NFF not to appoint a substantive coach for the Super Eagles.
