The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), yesterday said that no fewer than 10 persons died while three others were injured during the August clash that occurred between some farmers and herdsmen in Oyo State.
According to the NEMA South West Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Kadri Olanrewaju, while chatting with journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the incident took place at Gbenpakan community in Saki West Local Government Area of the state.
Olanrewaju said this was gathered while the agency was on an assessment visit to communities during which the officials paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the local government area, Gbenga Akinola on Tuesday.
He maintained that the conflict stemmed from tensions regarding the use of agricultural land, with farmers accusing herders of encroaching on their farmland for grazing purposes.
