As part of efforts to bridge the gap in accessing technology and knowledge as well as empowering individuals in a digitilised world, the Incubator Hub has launched The Ladies in Tech Africa Programme (LITA), an initiative that seeks to empower 76,000 women across Africa with free, comprehensive tech training, propelling them towards successful careers in the digital age.
According to the organiser, LITA offers in-depth training in high-demand tech skills through an accessible online platform, thus breaking financial barriers that often prevent women from pursuing careers in technology.
The initiative also seeks to create a robust pipeline of skilled female tech talents, accelerating Africa’s digital transformation and sustainable development.
Speaking, the Managing Director/CEO, Incubator Hub, Mr. Oluwafemi Oyetunde, stated: “The Incubator Hub, our mission is to facilitate digital advancement by creating supportive platforms and offering sustainable technological education opportunities.
Only around 25 per cent of tech professionals are women, accord – ing to recent data. This gender gap means the tech industry is missing out on a massive pool of talent and innovative ideas that women can offer.
“We believe that empowering women is crucial for driving innovation and economic growth in Africa. LITA is committed to bridging the digital divide and creating an inclusive tech ecosystem where women have equal opportunities to succeed.
“Since its inception, the initiative has expanded rapidly, reaching approximately 60,000 ladies from 112 countries, including 41 African nations. The programme’s widespread reach underscores its global impact on advancing women in tech.”
Oyetunde noted that the programme in partnership with Africa Missions Global commenced in August 2024 and offered a comprehensive curriculum covering a range of tech skills.
