Controversial Nigerian singer, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, better known as Naira Marley has stirred waves of backlash for taking a jab at his late ex-signee, Mohbad in a newly released song by Zinoleesky.
New Telegraph recalls that Mohbad died in a controversial manner on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the young age of 26.
However, many Nigerians, including his fans, followers, well-wishers, families and loved ones, have taken to their social media handles in honour of his remembrance, marking his first one-year death anniversary, on Thursday, September 12th.
His remembrance marks a year since his untimely demise its investigation yielded no conclusion and justice hanging over his tragic demise.
Amid Mohbad’s one-year remembrance, his ex-Marlian record label boss, Naira Marley, released a song titled Abanikanda featuring him and one of his signees, Zinoleesky, where he jabbed Mohbad in the lyrics, which many described as insensitive.
Naira Marley who was named a suspect in Mohbad’s case stated in some parts of the song, suggesting that the late singer was an ‘opposition (could also mean enemy) that should be left in the casket.’
He said: “Leave that opp boy inna casket”
The lyric has since sparked outrage from fans of the late Mohbad, who condemned the Marlian boss for being insensitive and bullying his ex-signee even after his demise.
An X user, @Veekaysss wrote, “This is enough evidence to declare them Killers of Mohbad, but this is Nigeria.”
Another user, @topetyez_ added, “He didn’t have to say that line at all tbh very unnecessary.”
