The Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Hon Agboola Ajayi has
promised to ensure 35 per cent of women are given appointment if elected in the November 16 governorship election in the state.
Also, Ajayi preached unity among the party faithful to ensure victory in the weekend governorship election in Edo State and the November 16 governorship poll in the state.
Ajayi said what played out in Benin, was indicative of the resolve of the PDP to take up the challenge of restoring the glory of Nigeria.
According to him, “The mood in the country today is that the PDP is the only messiah the people can look up to because of its antecedent of a capable manager of people, economy, and country.
“With the show of camaraderie displayed, it is obvious that the party is ready to take up the challenge to rescue Nigeria from her current handlers.
“I can’t remember the last time the party supported a cause like this Edo election with its full strength as we have seen here today.”
He advised the electorate to queue behind the governorship candidate of PDP in Edo State just as he told the party faithful to remain resolute in retaining the state.
Meanwhile, Ajayi has promised to turn around the fortune of women and empower them financially when elected as governor in the off-circle election.
Speaking at a meeting with PDP women leaders across the 18 Local Government areas of the state, Ajayi said the United Nations (UN) affirmation on gender equality would be adhered to from February 24 when he assumes office.
The women, who are mostly PDP women leaders from all the political wards in the state and key women leaders in the party across the State, promised to work assiduously for the emergence of PDP in their various wards across the State.
The meeting was said to be the first of its kind in the state chapter of the PDP. It was a right call in the right direction as it shows that the present leadership of the party and the Governorship Candidate have hit the nail on the head this time around as women in politics are key to victory in any election.
Speaking on what they need from their various Senatorial District of the party, some of the women leaders assured the candidate of doing their very best in the election.
The women pleaded with the party leaders to provide enough security and other wherewithal that would further embolden them on the day of the election.
The women said “We are ready this time around to work for the party, you have shown us with this meeting that we are recognized in the party and that when the PDP government comes on board, we will have our pride of place in government appointments, so we are ready to go out there and work for the party ” the Senatorial woman leader from Ondo North emphasis.
While admonishing the women to be proactive this time around, a former women leader in the party in Ondo State, Mrs Folake Sarunmi, said women should be bold to come out now and mobilize for Agboola and PDP, stressing that all women would benefit from the PDP, government in Ondo State.
