Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima has departed from Abuja to the United States of America (USA) to represent Nigeria at the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The President tasked Shettima with leading the Nigerian delegation to the high-level global forum, allowing him to focus on urgent domestic issues, including the recent severe flood disaster affecting parts of the country.
During the session, which is themed “Leaving No One Behind: Acting Together for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development, and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations,” Vice President Shettima will deliver Nigeria’s national address.
He will also engage in various high-level meetings on the sidelines of the event and hold bilateral discussions with other global leaders.
The General Debate, set to run from September 24 to 28, 2024, will bring together leaders from around the world to address pressing global challenges, such as climate change, poverty, and sustainable development.
