Ex-international, Efe Sodje, has said Victor Boniface can become one of the most lethal strikers for Nigeria if the Super Eagles coach can adopt a strategy that could force the best out of the Bayer Leverkusen star.
Sodje, fondly called’ The Bandana Man’ during his playing days said he is worried Nigerians are yet to get the best out of Boniface despite the player’s consistent form with the German champions.
With eight caps, Boniface has yet to score a goal for the Eagles since making his debut in September 2023 and Sodje, who featured at the 2002 World Cup, said it behoves the national team manager to get him firing for the squad.
“Boniface is a good player but he is just inconsistent (with the national team) “I remember we adapted to Julius’ (Aghahowa) style, we can do the same for Boniface.
“We could change the system, adapt to his own game, like playing him alongside Victor Osimhen in attack.” “The question is can they play him and Osimhen together? Or will they have to play one and leave the other?”
“That’s where the issue is, and they have to change the system.” ‘So whoever we get as coach needs to observe the players closely, know how he (Boniface) plays and sometimes adapts to his game.”
