To build a stronger and more united country, there is a need for citizens to embrace both their rights and responsibilities. Therefore, citizens must shift their focus from solely demanding their rights and instead prioritise fulfilling their civic duties as well.
It is against the backdrop that the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, declared that the success of the country lies in the readiness of citizens to observe their civic duties and responsibilities.
He was speaking on Sunday at the Chapel of Christ The Light, Alausa, Ikeja, the venue of a thanksgiving Service held to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.
Represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Sam Egube, Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that while citizens are rightfully entitled to certain freedoms and protections, the nation’s progress depends equally on individuals recognising and acting on their responsibilities.
