Former Barcelona midfielder, Andrés Iniesta is set to bring down the curtain on his illustrious playing career.
The 40-year-old former Barcelona playmaker, considered one of the greatest footballers of all time, will officially announce his retirement on October 8, 2024.
Iniesta shared a teaser on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, writing, “Coming soon 8/10/24,” sparking widespread anticipation among fans and the football community.
Over a remarkable career spanning more than two decades, Iniesta made 674 appearances for Barcelona’s senior team, scoring 57 goals and providing 135 assists.
The Spanish midfielder was instrumental in leading the Blaugranas to 32 major trophies, including nine La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League titles, and six Copa del Rey crowns.
