Manchester United’s centre-back, Harry Maguire, has emphasized that the team’s manager, Erik Ten Hag will continues to enjoy the unwavering support of the dressing room.
Maguire’s remarks came in the aftermath of a tense 3-3 draw against FC Porto in the Europa League, during which the Red Devils squandered a two-goal advantage.
Before this fixture, there had been speculation surrounding Ten Hag’s position at Old Trafford following a 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
Amid mounting pressure, Maguire demonstrated his leadership on the pitch by leaping high in stoppage time to nod in the crucial equalizer, salvaging a point for the team against the Portuguese side.
Despite the disappointing result, Manchester United now find themselves with just two points from their first two Europa League matches, with a challenging fixture against Aston Villa looming in a mere three days.
Reflecting on the situation, Maguire told TNT Sports that Erik ten Hag’s wealth of experience would help the Dutchman to overcome the tense pressure that comes with a poor run of games.
The England international said: “Having been with this club for six years, I understand the dynamics at play. When a rough patch occurs, it’s not just the players who face scrutiny, but also the manager.
“However, Ten Hag’s wealth of experience and tenure at the club equip him with the ability to navigate through such challenges. It’s an inherent part of the privilege and responsibility that comes with being associated with this esteemed club.”
