The Defense Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that Nigerian troops prevented oil thieves from stealing an estimated sum of N793,257,250 within a week, as part of ongoing military operations across the country.
During the week under review, troops neutralized 118 criminals, arrested 97 suspects, and eliminated key terrorist commanders and combatants, the statement reads.
In the Niger Delta region, troops discovered and destroyed 44 illegal refining sites and confiscated a range of materials including 48 boats, three speedboats, 156 drums, 34 storage tanks, 28 cooking ovens, eight vehicles, one motorcycle, and one tricycle.
Recovered oil products amounted to 602,200 litres of stolen crude oil, 64,900 litres of illegally refined AGO, and 12,690 litres of PMS.
The military remains committed to maintaining pressure on criminal elements and ensuring peace and security across the country.
