The Coalition of Northern Civil Society Organizations (CNCSOs) has praised National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle for their bold actions against bandits and other criminal elements.
The groups also hailed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in Northern Nigeria is laudable.
In a statement signed by Alhaji Usman Usman, on Sunday in Abuja, the CSOs said the strategic appointments of Ribadu and Matawalle marked a turning point in the fight against insecurity.
According to Usman, as National Security Adviser, Ribadu has implemented a multi-faceted strategy which integrates military, political, and socio-economic initiatives, prioritizing cross-border cooperation, youth empowerment, and local institution reinforcement.
He noted that Matawalle, meanwhile, has taken the fight to the bandits, adding that his leadership has brought hope to the troubled region.
He said: “Engagement with traditional leaders, community groups, and civil society organizations has been pivotal. His commitment to regional and international cooperation demonstrates Nigeria’s determination.
“Ribadu’s expertise has strengthened Nigeria’s security architecture, addressing evolving threats. We salute his dedication to protecting Nigerian lives.
“Matawalle has utilized a strategic approach which has brought hope to the troubled region. His unwavering commitment strengthened the military, restoring hope to communities terrorized by banditry.
“The elimination of Mai Hijabi, a notorious terrorist leader, under Matawalle’s leadership, demonstrates effectiveness. Matawalle inspires Nigerians with dedication”.
The CSOs, however, urged Nigerians to continue to support Ribadu and Matawalle, adding that community-based initiatives and cooperation are vital.
Usman further said: “To Ribadu and Matawalle, we say: do not relent. Your work brings hope. Continue your tireless efforts.
The Coalition stands with you. Together, we can achieve a safer Nigeria.”
