Two persons with disabilities (PWD) have been arrested by the police after a failed attempt to snatch a tricycle from the owner at Oyingbo, Mainland Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The suspects were identified as Mande Bello, 30, Samsudeen Usman 23 and Ghazali who is at large. The physically challenged suspects from Pay Aja had allegedly begged the tricycle rider to give them a ride to Third Mainland Bridge intersection.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement yesterday said on October 10, at about 3pm, a complaint was received at Denton Police Station that on October 9, a tricycle rider reported that he gave a ride to some physically challenged at Boson roundabout, Oyingbo.
The rider said he had declined when he was begged to drop them at the Third Mainland Bridge intersection, towards Panti. Hundeyin said after giving them a ride, the rider was about to drop them at the Third Mainland Bridge intersection when one of the physically challenged suspects, Bello brought out a cable wire with the support of other to strangulate the rider.
The rider was said to have immediately wrestle with them and forcefully turned back to Okobaba with the two suspects, while Ghazali jumped down from the tricycle.
