Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State has provided Health programme for about 10,000 residents of the area, covering tests and treatments for blood pressure, diabetes, HIV/ AIDS, blood and sugar levels.
Speaking at the event, which held at the local government secretariat in Akowonjo Road recently, the Chairman of the local government, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon, who has been reportedly suspended by the Lagos State House of Assembly, stated that the programme is part of his electoral promises to the people of Alimosho that he would ensure that healthcare is provided for the people.
Sulaimon stated that his administration upgraded many healthcare centres into comprehensive health centers, where healthcare facilities are provided for the people. He said that his administration has constructed many healthcare centres to ensure that the vision Organisation (WHO) are met, which he said has to do with ensuring that healthcare reaches all the wards in the local government.
“I can say that we have primary healthcare centers in five out of the seven wards that we have in the local government, which is recognised by the constitution of Nigeria.
“We have Bola Ahmed Tinubu Primary Healthcare Centre along Akowonjo Road, Ipile Rere Family Healthcare Centre at Akinremi area, and Ologufe Healthcare Centre, which was constructed by my humble self. We also have one in Orisunbare and we have another one in Shasha. “All these are part of our agenda, which is getting closer to the electorate.
The programme that we have today centres around diabetes, hypertension, HIV/AIDS. “We will ensure that it is continuous. Today, about 10,000 residents of the area will be checking there heights, BP, blood level, sugar level and others.
“Whoever has any of these would be given free drugs. We have doc- tors, nurses and laboratory scientists around here. It is for the youths, men, women and even the physically challenged. We are doing these free of charge.”
