Dr Okezie Ikpeazụ, the immediate past Governor of Abia State has said that end to the crisis bedeviling the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is near.
This was as he said that most political parties cannot survive what the PDP has survived and assured that everything will be okay before the 2027 general elections.
Ikpeazu who spoke to journalists in Aba disclosed that the PDP has inbuilt mechanisms to resolve its problems than any other political party in Nigeria.
He explained that until a party faces problems and gets out of it, it will not be able to know whether it has sufficient resilience and buffers to survive.
“Most of the other political parties, apart from my party, can’t survive what we have survived so far. But we have inbuilt mechanisms to resolve our conflicts because partisan politics is such that there has to be conflicts and I’m sure that the resolution of the conflict is in sight and everything will be okay.
“2027 is almost here and people are jostling, so it’s usual. The noise you hear in the market place is not a war, it’s haggling,” he said.
On his future political plans he said; “My plan is to be a strong party man, remain focused and look onto God. There’s nothing that has come to me that didn’t come from heaven and heaven is still open.”
Adding his voice, the Senator representing Abia Central senatorial zone, Col. Austin Akobundu, rtd, said that he will not abandon PDP, because the party has done much for him.
He explained that he will not abandon the PDP when the party needs him, stressing that this is payback time for the PDP.
He said;” I won’t abandon the PDP; the party has done much for me. I don’t know about others. This is the time to work for the party. I can’t abandon the PDP when the party needs me.
“This is payback time for the party, I won’t leave PDP. Even if am going to be the only one standing I won’t mind. You know my training and you know where Im coming from. I will fight for you and I will stand with you.”
