Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele has sent a note of warning to fans amid the growing increase of piracy issues in the film industry.
The box office queen, who is set to release her new movie titled, “Everybody Loves Jenifa” in cinemas on Friday, December 13th, took to her social media page to urge Nigerians to take a stand against piracy.
Funke condemned the act of recording videos at cinemas, labelling it as piracy and imploring people to stop as it is detrimental to the industry.
She wrote; “SAY NO TO PIRACY!!! Recording short videos at the cinemas is piracy!!! Please stop it!!! Piracy is killing us!! I worked so hard on this project. Please, I’m pleading, do not be caught promoting piracy!!!”
She further emphasized how much effort and resources she has invested in the movie, emphasizing the devastating impact piracy has on filmmakers.
She also disclosed the security measures put in place to counter piracy during the release of her movie; including the arrest of defaulters.
