On Friday morning, a seven-storey building on Sanni Adewale Street in Lagos Island was gutted with fire.
According to Margaret Adeseye, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the agency received an emergency call at 05:17 hours and dispatched firefighters from Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations.
Adeseye confirmed that the fire has been brought under control with no casualties, saying the team arrived at the scene by 05:33 hours.
Initial investigations indicate that the blaze was caused by an electrical surge.
“The fire affected several shops within the building.
“Our teams worked swiftly to contain the situation, and I’m relieved to report that there have been no injuries or fatalities,” Adeyeye stated.
