A 27-year-old chicken seller, Alozie John on Friday attempted suicide after being overwhelmed by a debt of N1.2 million owed to a livestock supplier in Umunnachi, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Alozie who hails from Ebonyi State but reside in Anambra State consumed a poisonous substance in a desperate act but was rescued in time by the police.
His actions were, however, uncovered by the state Police command after he sent a WhatsApp message to the police, revealing his fear of the insurmountable debt.
Alozie is currently under medical care, with his mother’s supervision.
