Manchester City are reportedly in the race to sign Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, aiming to beat Premier League rivals Liverpool and Arsenal to the Atalanta winger’s signature.
With Lookman emerging as one of Serie A’s standout performers, City manager Pep Guardiola is said to be keen on adding the Nigerian international to his squad, bolstering his attacking options for the new season.
Lookman’s impressive form for Atalanta last season caught the attention of several top clubs, making him a hot commodity in the transfer market.
His heroics in the final of the Europa League last term made him a desirable target for teams looking to strengthen their forward line.
Liverpool and Arsenal are both rumoured to be interested in bringing Lookman back to the Premier League, but according to TBR Football Manchester City’s interest could tip the scales in their favour.
Meanwhile, former Nigerian international, Henry Nwosu, has weighed in on Lookman’s transfer situation, urging the 25-year-old to carefully consider his next move. Nwosu, a 1980 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner advised Lookman as well as Napoli star, Victor Osimhen, to choose the options that would provide them with the best environment to continue developing his talent and get regular playing time.
“Ademola and Osimhen are talented players, and it’s great to see top clubs showing interest in them” Nwosu said.
“But they both need to stay focused and make sure they pick the right club that will support their growth and allow them to play regularly. I think should think carefully about what’s best for his career in the long term.”
