A former Chief of Staff to ex-Osun State governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and current Chairman of the College of Education, Ila-Orangun, Peter Babalola has been suspended from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State.
New Telegraph gathered that Babalola’s suspension was premise on allegations of anti-party and consistent absenteeism from party meetings.
In a letter dated Tuesday, August 27, 2024, and signed by seventeen PDP executives from Ward 7 in Irewole Local Government Area, Babalola was accused of actions that could bring the party into disrepute.
The letter, issued by the Ward’s Chairman, Odelade Adesoye, stated that Babalola had not attended PDP ward or local government meetings for two years and had been involved in activities harmful to the party’s interests.
The letter reads in part: “After exhaustive deliberations on the various anti-party activities of Elder Peter Babalola in the PDP for the past two years, and his habitual engagements in activities that can put the party into disrepute.
“The executive of PDP in Ward 07, Irewole Local Government hereby suspends Elder Peter Adebayo Babalola from the PDP, effective today, 27th August 2024.”
However, Babalola has remained silent and has not made any comment publicly on his suspension.
