The Nasarawa State government has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government on Mining and mineral development.
The state governor, Abdullahi Sule stated this when he received the Minister of Solid Mineral Development, Dele Akale on a courtesy visit at Government House in Lafia, on Friday.
Sule said that his government was quick in approving the hosting of the 6th National Council Meeting on Mining and Mineral development giving the importance and economic benefits of the gathering in the state.
He lauded the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development for embarking on reforms to collaborate with the states and communities where mining activities takes place, saying do so would bring about peace and security in states where mining activities takes place.
” There is no better time host the national council meeting on mining and mineral development now when Nigeria is looking for other sources of revenue outside oil which is what informed our quick approval for the hosting of the meeting”
Speaking earlier, minister of Solid Mineral Development, Dele Akale, said that he was in Nasarawa state to seek partnership with the government on mining and mineral development.

He recalled that the recent commissioning of the largest lithium factory in Africa earmed the state one of the topmost in mining and mineral investment destination in the world.
The minister explained that the choice of Nasarawa state to host the 6th national council meeting on mining and mineral development billed for November was informed of the commitment and visibility of the state in mineral development.
Akale said that available records have shown that Nasarawa state was among four states in the federation earning above N1bn in the federal allocation accruing from solid minerals earnings and promised a robourst collolaboration with the state in the development of the minerals sector to boost the nation’s economy.
