General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has assured that better things are on the way.
He gave the assurance on Sunday during the September Thanksgiving Service to mark the Church’s New Year alongside Special Prayers for sportsmen, sportswomen and their families entitled ‘Greater Heights’ held at the Church’s National Headquarters, EbuteMetta, Lagos.
Testifying of God’s goodness and the success of the one-week-long Annual Convention held in August with the theme ‘Heaven’, Adeboye said out of the over 100,000 children that attended and were in the children’s church, not one went missing.
At the service monitored by New Telegraph, he expressed joy that the convention was awesome while confessing that he was afraid at the size of the crowd he saw, despite being a lover of crowds.
“I’m a man of crowds, I love crowds, when I see crowds I feel happy but this last convention I was afraid. This last crowd I was afraid, I don’t mind confessing that to you.
“Particularly when I got to the children’s section, they don’t show them on most of the screens. But when you stand and look to your right for almost a kilometre there are children, hundreds of thousands of them.
“Oh, I said God have mercy upon me because if somebody gives you 100 children and he says help me look after these 100 children for one week.’ You know the implementation. Children are supposed to be restless, they are supposed to be playful and in the end, not a single one was missing. My God is good. I want to assure you better things are ahead,” he stated.
Prior to his testimony, he led the congregation in praying for the success, protection and salvation of sportsmen and women.
He said, “When they succeed they bring glory to their nations, when they fail it affects the nation…I want to pray that God will anoint them so that they will no longer fail again. They will excel in all their competitions.”
In his sermon, he recalled how he had a beautiful view of mountains when he flew for the first time from Nigeria to Sierra Leone in the defunct national carrier, “Nigeria Airways of blessed memory.”
Likening a level of intimacy with God to flying over mountains, he urged individuals to maintain a high altitude by waiting on God, developing and nourishing a close intimacy with God.
He also likened anyone who lives in sin to “being in a hole and already dead though yet to be buried”, while saying they are redeemable if they could surrender to Jesus Christ and decide to live sin-free.
In addition, he noted that he enjoys an intimate relationship with God and hears from him though he may not be a prophet.
He cited how God told him the world would be on holiday prior to the outbreak of Coronavirus.
Also, how he was divinely instructed to dance amongst some sorely sick people who could not bend to touch their toes and thereafter got their healing though it looked like a foolish thing to do in his eyes.
