The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved the appointment of Enugu Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and his Remo Stars counterpart Daniel Ogumodede as assistants to caretaker coach Austin Eguavoen for the forthcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
Eguavoen was given the free hand to pick his assistants and the choice of Ilechukwu and Ogunmodede represents a reward for enterprising coaches in the local league.
Ilechukwu led Enugu Rangers to win the NPFL championship this past season, while Ogunmodede, 44, has qualified Remo Starforto continental football in the last two years.
Eguavoen will take temporary charge of the Super Eagles.
This is my fourth stint with the national team.
