The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), has issued a stern warning to auto dealers in the state, cautioning them against displaying vehicles for sale in unauthorized locations.
The warning comes after numerous complaints from Community Development Associations (CDAs) regarding the illegal activities of some auto dealers across the state.
During a courtesy visit by the Lagos State Motor Dealers Association to the LASTMA headquarters in Oshodi yesterday, General Manager LASTMA, Olalekan BakareOki, emphasized the importance of maintaining order and ensuring smooth traffic flow.
He noted that the illegal placement of vehicles on roadsides, setbacks, streets and walkways poses a significant risk to public safety and obstructs the free flow of traffic, obstructs pedestrian movement, and exacerbates traffic congestion..
LASTMA urged auto dealers to refrain from displaying vehicles in prohibited areas, including road setbacks and walkways, noting that the agency is working to ensure compliance and maintain order in the state’s traffic management system.
Mr. Bakare-Oki noted that numerous complaints have been received from Community Development Associations (CDAs), regarding the illegal activities of some auto dealers across the state.
