Nigerian singer, Korede Bello has revealed the reasons behind his departure from Don Jazzy’s Mavins Records, a record label he joined in 2014 and exited in 2021.
In a recent interview with Hip TV hosted by KimOprah, the “Godwin” hitmaker disclosed that he left the label because he felt like a product focused solely on generating revenue.
Bello explained that he reached a point in his career where he needed to reconnect with himself, undergo introspection, and find a deeper sense of purpose.
According to him, his departure from Mavins allowed him to explore his artistic direction outside the pressure of constantly creating commercial success.
“I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth,” he said.
The singer further elaborated that chasing hits and staying relevant in conversations often made artists lose sight of what truly matters.
“You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next hit… A lot of artists are addicted to that circle,” he added.
