The Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has dissolved the 17 Local Government Transition Implementation Committees, effective from Friday, September 6, 2024.
The dissolution became necessary to allow preparations and pave way for the October Local Government polls in the state.
This decision was made public in a statement issued on Friday night by the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Gyang Bere.
The committees, which were formed on June 9, 2023, had initially been set to serve for six months but saw their tenure extended multiple times until the dissolution on Friday.
Governor Mutfwang has directed the Directors of Personnel Management in the 17 local government areas to take charge of administration until elections are held on October 9, 2024.
In his statement, the Governor commended the Transition Committee Chairmen for their “exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing developmental projects” that positively impacted their communities.
He urged them to continue offering counsel to promote peace and unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Plateau State.
Governor Mutfwang encouraged the outgoing chairmen to engage with their constituents to ensure PDP’s success in the upcoming local government elections.
He also thanked the people of Plateau State for their continuous support, acknowledging the strong connection between the citizens and the PDP, as reflected in the party’s primaries for chairmanship and councillorship positions.
The Governor reiterated his commitment to running an inclusive, transparent, and accountable government that prioritizes the interests of all Plateau citizens.
