A Lagos based businessman, Mr. Okechukwu Emmanuel Elebe, has petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 2, Onikan and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos, accusing one Dr. Adubi Denti, a client, of undue intimidation, harassment and business sabotage after a business transaction that didn’t go well.
In the petition, Mr. Elebe, who is the Executive Director of Okeyson Machine Tools Global Resources, said Dr. Denti purchased some machines from him including a pure water making machine, all with six months warranty.
He added that about eight months after the transaction, Dr. Denti called to accuse him of selling a second hand machine to him in place of new, despite that the machine being in good condition was successfully installed by Denti’s engineer, the client alleged that the machine was defective and demanded a refund.
Despite denying the allegation of selling sub-standard equipment, but that for peace to reign and for good business relationship he asked that the machine be returned and that he was ready to make a refund of N1.2million, which was the cost of the pure water machine.
He said however that after the pure water machine was returned, Dr. Denti refused to take a refund, insisting on getting the machine which he paid, but he said that was no longer possible because of a huge price differential.
Elebe said since then Denti has been harassing him, and maligning his reputation, adding that he was prompted to petition the police in an attempt to find an amicable solution, but that has not helped the situation, as Denti has even gone ahead to bring police from outside the state to continue harassing and intimidating him.
However, when contacted on phone, Dr. Denti insisted that he paid for a brand new Pure Water Machine from Okeyson Machine Tools Global Resources, sent people to inspect it and were shown new machine, only for him to discover after the machine was supplied that he was sent a used machine instead of the new one he paid for.
He added that he had informed Elebe that he was not using the machines immediately, but buying at the time he did to avoid high cost.
He also said he informed the dealer that he wanted a replacement for his machine, as that was what he paid for, insisting, “I paid for a new machine and I insist on nothing less, I will get my new machine and will not settle for money refund.
