No fewer than four people are said to have died as a result of the recent out – break of cholera in Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Health authorities who spoke with newsmen in Yola, the Adamawa State Capital confirmed the spread of the disease in a few wards in the local government area claiming the lives of four people.
According to reports, the total number of confirmed cases now stands at 40, with four fatalities, while five new cases were recorded between September 4th and 15th, from Alkawa Ward, Ajiya Ward, and Limawa Ward.
Also similar cases have been reported from the same three settlements, with no new wards or communities affected. As at the time of filling this report, Health officials were closely monitoring the situation and samples collected from the outbreak and are tested positive for Vibrio cholerae 01 serotype at Yola Specialist Hospital.
In an interview, the Chairman Yola North LGA, Barrister Jibril Ibrahim, confirmed the outbreak and appealed to Adamawa State Government for swift intervention to contain the spread.
