The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said a total of 379,245 Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), 14.43 per cent of 2,629,025 registered voters in Edo State, were yet to be collected despite the extension of the period to September 16.
The INEC National Commissioner, Sam Olumekun, in a statement issued on Tuesday, however, explained that the commission achieved 2,249,780 (or 85.57 per cent) PVC collection.
Olumekun promised that INEC would make available data on PVC collection on a polling unit basis in Edo State ahead of the governorship election held this weekend.
“There are 4,519 polling units in the state. Voting will take place in each unit,” he added, disclosing that the detailed breakdown of the number of PVCs collected, as well as the number uncollected in each unit, has been uploaded to the commission’s website for the guidance of political parties, candidates and public information.
