Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 Presidential election, Mr Peter Obi and other chieftains of the Labour Party on Wednesday tasked security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to play by the rules of the game and ensure a free, fair and credible election in the forthcoming Edo State governorship election.
Obi gave this charge at the grand finale of the Edo State Labour Party Governorship Campaign rally in Benin City.
He said that the people of the State will surely resist any attempt by any political party to rig the election, adding that Nigerians are suffering today because of the wrong choice of leadership they have made.
He said that the correction must start from Edo State by voting in the governorship candidate of the Labour Party come September 21.
He blamed various state governors who usually shift responsibilities to the federal government to the detriment of the citizens of the states noting that, the governorship of the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata will not do that.
He however called on the people of the state to come out on Saturday to vote for the Labour Party governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata and his running mate, Kadiri Asamah.
Speaking also, Prof. Yusuf Baba Dati, running mate to Mr Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, called on Labour Party faithful in the state to utilize their numerical strength to enthrone their choice candidate come September 21.
He further urged the party faithful not to be intimidated but to be ready to vote and defend their votes because power belongs to the people.
Also speaking, Senator Neda Imasuen, Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, said they have done it before and that the party should be prepared to repeat the same feat come September 21.
