The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has said he will be presenting the official results of the Edo State Governorship Election to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Akpabio made this known before departing Benin City, the state capital to Abuja on Monday, saying the Edo State APC Chairman, Jeret Tenebe, handed him the results sheet for onward transmission to the President.
Akpabio emphasized the significance of the APC’s success at the polls, where Okpebholo was declared Governor-elect in a competitive race marked by high voter turnout.
“I was presented with a copy of the results sheet by the Edo State Chairman, Jeret Tenebe, shortly before my departure to Abuja.
“This will be transmitted to our party leader and President, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” Akpabio said.
New Telegraph reports that the APC’s victory in Edo State is being celebrated as a major political achievement, strengthening the party’s foothold in the region.
Akpabio had earlier in a press release expressed confidence in Senator Okpebholo’s leadership, stating that he is well-prepared to lead Edo State toward growth and development, building on the foundation laid by the outgoing administration.
Akpabio also praised the APC’s leadership in Edo and the electorate for their overwhelming support.
He lauded the people of Edo for their dedication to democracy and peaceful participation in the electoral process.
