Anchor University Lagos yesterday questioned the allegations of sexual assault made by a female student Evangel Ganiyu (@draganaismother) on her X account.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday in one of the female halls of the faithbased institution where an unskilled worker employed by a contractor was discovered in the student’s room while partially undressed.
The student claimed she woke up to find the individual there, prompting immediate action from university staff. Despite the academic session being on break, various holiday programs had just concluded, including those for trainee ICAN students and summer school students.
Following the incident, the student was questioned by the porters, the hostel supervisor, and the security team. Hostel Supervisor Grace Abodunde reported the incident to Vice-Chancellor Samuel Oye Bandele.
During their conversation, the student appeared confused and inconsistent in her responses, raising concerns about her credibility, according to a statement by the school.
The VC attempted to gather more information but found her demeanour perplexing. The university emphasized that the worker involved is not a member of its staff, which negates any potential cover-up. The VC said the case would be reported to the police after the university’s internal investigation.
