The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has advised Nigerians living in Lebanon to consider leaving the country or relocating to safer areas.
This was contained in a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols Unit at NIDCOM on Wednesday.
New Telegraph reports that this advisory comes on the heels of Israeli attacks on Hezbollah and other parts of Lebanon.
NIDCOM who gave the directives urged that commercial flights are still operational, providing an opportunity for residents to exit the conflict zone.
While reports from the Nigerian community in Lebanon indicate that most Nigerians have already moved away from the southern region and are currently in relatively safe areas, NIDCOM urges them to remain cautious until a ceasefire is established.
The commission expressed relief that no Nigerian has been injured or affected by the conflict so far, but emphasized the importance of continued vigilance.
Nigerians are also advised to maintain communication with the Nigerian Embassy in Lebanon for guidance on safety measures.
NIDCOM reassured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is deeply concerned about their safety and well-being during the ongoing crisis.
