The father of Afrobeats singer, Wizkid, Chief Munir Balogun, has addressed the escalating rivalry between his son and fellow artist, Davido.
In a recent interview with Punch Newspapers, Chief Balogun shared his thoughts on the growing tension surrounding these two prominent figures in the Nigerian music scene.
Chief Balogun laid emphasis on the seriousness of the situation, stressing the importance of maintaining focus, and urging fans to remember the positive aspects of both artists’ contributions to the music industry.
He also recounted his conversations with Wizkid, advising him to rise above the negativity and provocations from Davido’s passionate fanbase.
He explained that many attacks are not rooted in genuine criticism but rather in a desire to incite drama and division.
He said: “I told my son that he shouldn’t look or listen to whatever the boys who are supporters of Davido are saying. The supporters are only looking for what they will say to collect money and all of that.
“They are just looking for what they are going to eat and I told him not to pay much attention to them. I’ve told my son to take things easy with them and overlook whatever they say because I don’t blame them.”
