Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on Lagosians not to relent in praying for the state government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for wisdom in moving the nation forward.
Sanwo-Olu, who noted that it has been a difficult time in the nation, expressed hope that things would be better.
The governor spoke on Sunday at the October Thanksgiving and Special Prayer Service for students and government functionaries, tagged,’Divine Wisdom’ which was organised by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), at the National Headquarters, Ebute-metta, Lagos.
Acknowledging the efficacy of prayer especially in the measure of peace experienced in the state, he noted that the prayer by many Nigerians has helped in strengthening the President, even as he prayed that he will be more endowed with divine wisdom to move Nigeria forward.
He said, “In Lagos State, God is with us. In Nigeria, God will continue to be with us and we will not give up. It’s been a difficult, tough time as a people and as a nation. And we know it. But we believe that with God, all things, all things are possible.
“And we will continue to pray for the government at the centre, His Excellency, our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was a governor in Lagos and is our father of the nation. We believe that indeed, through the prayers that we are all giving to him, God has strengthened him, God will continue to give him the wisdom, give him the knowledge to take this nation forward.”
He said, “We are beginning to see that there will be positive improvement as we move along and that will be our fortune. And for us in Lagos, we continue to thank God for the peace, for the peace that we have in this city, for the peace that we have in our state. We do not want to take it for granted. We know that God indeed is with us.
“But I want to pray and ask you that indeed, as we continue together, please also remember us in your prayers. I want to assure you that with everything we have, we will continue to serve you. We will continue to ensure that God’s promises in terms of positive developments all around you will happen in your lifetime.”
Encouraging students, he restated the state government’s commitment to their education for a bright future. On infrastructural developments, he said there were ongoing works in Ebute-Metta and in other areas for the rehabilitation of roads in the state.
“Every part of the state will receive additional infrastructure development. In schools, in hospitals, on the road, in security, in food supply. We will continue to make it. And finally, to our children and to our students that our Father has prayed for, I want to admonish you, I want to encourage you. You are a critical part of our government.
“The students, the youth are an important part of our government. And we’ll continue to ensure that everything we’re doing is you first. Are you in that calculation?
“Is you in all of these? And we do not take you for granted. And so all of the restlessness or whatever it is, you know, be rest assured that this is your government.
“This is a government that will continue to work with you, to listen to you, and ensure that that future that you see, that future that you’re expecting, will not only be bright, but it will be a resounding victory for all of us.”
