The Director of Administration, Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Mike Nwafor, has said the presidential elections on Saturday is an opportunity Nigerians have to revive and redeem their country.
Nwafor urged Nigerians to vote massively for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Saturday.
He stated this during a press conference in Ifitedunu, Anambra State, on Thursday, adding that Nigerians could not afford to allow Obi escape becoming country’s next President.
Nwafor, who hails from Anambra State, also urged the people of the state to ensure they voted for Obi as their son, expressing confidence of 90 per cent votes for him in the entire South-East.
He said, “Nigerians, you have an opportunity to redefine and redeem your country. You have an opportunity to buy back that which is stolen from you. You might never have this opportunity again.
“You have a man who not only comprehends Nigeria’s problem, but analyses it and adduces appropriate solutions to the problem.
“Nigerians, please grab Peter Obi with two hands. Don’t let him escape. This is an opportunity you can’t afford to miss because he’s the only option.
“I’m sure Anambra will give Obi 1.8 million votes out of over two million registered voters. Select voters randomly in the South-East, I am sure 90 per cent will tell you they are voting for Obi.”
Nwafor also expressed confidence about the readiness of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). to provide a level playing ground for all parties as well as his commitment to ensure that the Independent National Electoral Commission was unbiased.
“We are not worried with the support Buhari has given to his party’s candidate. In fact, we would have been surprised if he had done otherwise. If he abandons his party so suddenly, his integrity will be questioned.
“We only expect him, as President of Nigeria, to be a father of all who must be fair to all and provide a level playing ground for all parties. So far, we think he’s been fair and he will keep to his words.”
Also speaking, the Head of General Duties of Obi-datti campaign, Francis Asokwu, regretted the increasing threats and intimidation towards the election, orchestrated by hoodlums in the state, urging the electorate not to be cowed by such intimidation.
He also urged the media not to hype the activities of hoodlums, just as he challenged the electorate not to be scared, but to come out on Saturday to exercise their franchise.
Meanwhile, the National Youth Wing of Peoples Redemption Party, on Thursday, said it had resolved to donate socialist votes to candidate Obi, ahead of Saturday’s polls.
According to a resolution, made available to our correspondent in Gombe State, the group said its donation was devoid of monetary rewards, adding that any member who requested such would ejected.
The resolution was signed by the National Secretary of Nigerian Youths Solidarity for PRP, Happiness Ntuenibok, the Founder of the National Youths wing of the Peoples Redemption,
Musa Ali-Maishanu, and the National President of Nigerian Youths Solidarity For PRP, Emmanuel Nehemiah-Tata.
The resolution partly read, “We are hereby writing this letter in accordance with the stated headline above to inform the leadership of our organisation across Nigeria that a decision to give our votes to the presidential candidate of Labour Party his Excellency Peter Obi on 25th February,2023 behind our mandates as citizens of Nigeria, members and leaders of our great organisation (NYSP), has been concluded.
“Therefore, the representatives of our organisation across the six geopolitical zones, as a matter of fact, should disseminate this socialist development to the chairmen of their various regions through the social media platforms of our organisation in order to communicate with the leaders at state, local government and wards levels.”
