The anti-kidnapping team of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has rescued 14 people who were abducted from the Kwali area council of Abuja on April 7.Our correspondent gathered that the village head of Chida, Kwali, was among those rescued during a special rescue operation by the police in Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger states, and the FCT borders.
The victims were rescued unhurt around Sarudauna Forest, Nasarawa State, via Gegu village bordering the FCT, and were taken to Abaji General Hospital, where 10 victims were treated and discharged; the remaining four were admitted.
Similarly, on Wednesday, May 3, around 5.30pm, the FCT anti-kidnapping unit while on clearance operation rescued eight other hostages identified as Buba Galadima, Sarki Galadima, Audu Galadima, Musa Buba, Mohammad Isa, Hassan Audu, Aminu Ahmadu, and Abubakar Mallam.
The men were kidnapped from Lapai and Tungan Mallam villages of Niger State on April 13, 2023.
However, our correspondent exclusively gathered that a victim, later identified as Ali Manu, was killed by bandits, while all rescued victims were handed over to Ardo Galadima of Lapai LGA, Niger State, for medical attention.
Reacting to the incident on Friday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, urged residents to support the police to secure the territory.
“It is only by working together as a team that the security challenges in the FCT can be conquered,” he added.
