Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Kaduna State Governor, and Northern Christian Youth Professionals, yesterday, lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his appointments.
Ohanaeze youth council applauded Tinubu, particularly, for appointing an Igbo as one of the service chiefs.
Tinubu had on Monday sacked service chiefs and announced their replacements. One of them, Rear Admiral E.A Ogalla, who is named the Chief of Naval Staff, is from Enugu State.
In a statement, the National President of the Igbo group, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, said Tinubu took a bold step towards national healing, as he promised the citizens.
Okwu said: “For eight years, we cried, we shouted on top of our voices that no Igbo man is among the top security echelon of the country, but former President Muhammadu Buhari turned deaf ears.”
Okwu described the appointment of Ogalla as a “a clear testimony to Tinubu’s desire to reunite the country.”
He said: “Mr. President’s actions so far have given hope to Nigerians that good things are ahead. This also came a few days after our own Frank Mba, another Igbo son, was promoted from AIG to DIG of police.”
He urged Ndigbo to give the Tinubu government maximum support, stressing: “We are certain he has good plans for the country and will carry everyone along.”
IN their reaction, northern Christian youths described the appointments as clear testament to the President’s unwavering commitment to uniting Nigerians and ensuring equal treatment for all citizens.
In a statement, the Chairman of the group, Isaac Abrak, said the appointment reinforces the belief that the Muslim-Muslim ticket during the election was never intended as disrespect to Christians, especially those in the North, but rather, it was a strategic move to secure electoral victory.
While urging fellow Christians and all Nigerians to wholeheartedly embrace the Tinubu administration, NCYP urged those appointed by the President to serve Nigeria as one.
The statement added: “In particular, we would like to express our deep appreciation for the appointment of Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa as the Chief of Staff. Musa, a northern Christian, hailing from the minority tribe of Zangon Kataf Council in Kaduna State, has been appointed despite the fact that his Council did not strongly support the President during the election.”
SIMILARLY, the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, welcomed the appointment of Gen. Musa.
In a statement, on Monday, the governor noted that Tinubu has always shown solidarity with Kaduna State and its people and pledged the state’s support to the Federal Government.
