There is an ongoing meeting of the Senator Hope Uzodimma-led Progressive Governors’ Forum at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro Abuja.
The meeting is coming barely three days after the Acting National Chairman of the party, Senator Abubakar Kyari officially announced the resignation of Adamu and the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
The crucial session is also coming hours after an earlier meeting of the governors with the leadership of the National Working Committee of All Progressives Congress scheduled to hold on Wednesday at the party secretariat was cancelled.
In attendance at the meeting in Asokoro is Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state; Umar Bago (Niger); Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi); Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara); Acting Ondo state Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa; Fr. Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Una Sani (Kaduna); Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos); Mai Mala Buni (Yobe); and Dikko Radda (Katsina).
Although the agenda of the meeting was not made public, a source at the Imo Governor’s Lodge told our correspondent it may not be unconnected with the change in leadership of the APC, the indefinite postponement of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings, and administration of the ruling party.
“I believe that was why the earlier meeting of the governors and the NWC was cancelled this afternoon. The PGF members felt it will be better to have a private session to form a united front before meeting with the leadership of the APC,” the source said.
