The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday, said that politicians, who were unsettled and reacted angrily to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, don’t mean well for Nigeria, adding that the country is passing through hard times, and would only take somebody like Obi to fix it.
In a statement, in Abakaliki, the factional Secretary General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, noted that the unexpected open letter unmasked notorious ambitions and desires of these politicians to sell off what is remaining of Nigeria.
The group urged Nigerians to ignore these politicians and their presidential candidates, because they don’t mean well for Nigeria. Isiguzoro pleaded with Nigerians, especially other presidential candidates, to accept Obasanjo’s verdict, adding that his endorsement has knocked out the gang of looters in the system. He stressed that the attendant enraged reactions, following the development, have exposed those who are enemies and problems of Nigeria.
He further urged Nigerians to explore the opportunity provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from January 6 to 22, 2023. He added that all Obi’s endorsements would only be meaningful when Nigerians collect their PVCs and ensure they vote.
The statement reads: “Ohanaeze has called on Nigerians and the political elite, particularly presidential candidates, to accept Obasanjo’s verdict and endorsement of Obi as bitter pills to cure maladies and ailments that have plagued Nigeria.
“Obasanjo’s open endorsement has knocked out gang of looters in the system, and their enraged reactions to Obi’s endorsement has exposed those who are enemies of the country, as they are fighting back to ensure the status quo of looting and corruption continues.
“Nigerians should shun these politicians and their presidential candidates by exploring the opportunity provided by INEC to collect their PVCs from January 6 to 22, 2023, and vote them out during the coming general elections, because they don’t mean well for the country.”
