The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Chimaroke Nnamani, senator representing Enugu west senatorial district, and others.
Debo Ologunagba, the PDP publicity spokesperson, announced the development in a statement issued on Friday night, January 20, 2023.
According to him, Nnamani and seven others have been suspended over “anti-party activities”.
Others suspended are; Ayeni Funso -(Ekiti North), Ajijola Lateef Oladimeji -(Ekiti Central), Emiola Adenike Jennifer -(Ekiti South II), Ajayi Babatunde Samuel -(Ekiti North II), Olayinka James Olalere -(Ekiti Central), Akerele Oluyinka -(Ekiti North I), and Fayose Oluwajomiloju John -(Ekiti Central I).
The PDP urged all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of the Party across the country to remain united and focused on its mission to Rescue, Rebuild and Redirect the nation from misrule.
The suspension is coming barely 35 days before the 2023 general elections and amid the ongoing crisis rocking the major opposition party.
Recall that some governors who are now called G5 led by the governor of Rivers state Nyesom Wike have vowed not to campaign for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
They held that only the resignation of the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu will make them change their stance. The aggrieved governors claimed that power in the party is too concentrated in the Northern zone and that things needed to go the right way.
