The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed a new Commissioner of Police, CP Ayilara Waheed Adedamola, to head Akwa Ibom State Command.
CP Adedamola takes over from Olatoye Durosinmi, who has been elevated to AIG Zone 2, Lagos.
The new Akwa Ibom CP holds a law degree (LL.B.) (Hons) from the University of Ibadan, a BL from the Nigeria Law School, Lagos, and a Master of Law (LLM) from the University of Lagos.
A statement yesterday by SP Odiko MacDon, Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom Command, noted that CP Adedamola got appointed into the Police Force as a “Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on May 18, 1992, and has served in various capacities, including being Assistant Commissioner of Police, Police Mobile Force Office – FHQ Abuja.”
MacDon added that Adedamola, who takes over as the 32nd CP in Akwa Ibom, has also served as “Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, Oyo State Command, Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal and Investigations Department, Panti, Lagos, amongst others. Before his present appointment, he was acting Commissioner of Police, Lagos State.”
He added that the new CP, in his maiden meeting with senior officers of the command, assured of his readiness to operate an open-door policy for enhanced policing, warning them to maintain professionalism while performing their duties.
“The CP further assured Akwa Ibomites of satisfactory police service delivery while soliciting the cooperation of all for a more peaceful and safe Akwa Ibom State,” MacDon further stated.
