THE People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Anambra state said they have resolved to set aside selfish interest and come together as one strong family to contest for power in the state.
The PDP lost power in Anambra state in 2003 and had been going through one crisis of the other.
But they claimed that they have decided to drop all personal interests to ensure that the party returns to power in the state’s 2025 governorship election.
This was declared by a member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the party, Chief Ugochukwu Okeke while speaking with journalists in Enugu.
Okeke said the party was working hard to put its house in order and regain it old glory in Anambra state.
Okeke, whose membership of PDP BoT was ratified recently at the 76th meeting of the Board, assured PDP members in the state
that the good old days it the party would return, saying the party would reclaim Anambra state in 2025.
“Anambra state is a major stronghold of PDP. The tactics of opposing parties had been to first instigate division within PDP and subsequently use PDP structure to defeat PDP in the election. But that is a thing of the past now. Our major stakeholders have basically agreed that there’s need to maintain peace within the party for successes to be recorded and we are working together in the overall interest of the party and Ndi Anambra”
Okeke commended the National leadership of the party for its decision to introduce new faces that are young and vibrant, to lead the party in the state.
“You can see what is happening in Anambra today. The remodeling of PDP is on course and the narrative is changing. The determination of the new State Chairman and his team to incubate a positive change, bringing something new to the electorates is glaring. The zeal is infectious and I can tell you that PDP is back to the frontline of Anambra politics.
“I believe that the new State Chairman and his team will continue to enjoy the support of critical stakeholders as long as the current momentum is maintained”, he noted.
