The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation, GAVI, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his enthusiasm and dedication to Nigeria’s efforts to establish a high-quality healthcare delivery system and produce vaccines domestically.
GAVI, the Global champion for the elimination of vaccines preventable diseases, has also poured encomium on the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Mohammad Ali Pate and the Executive Director of National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, NPHCDA, Dr Muyi Aina for their commitment towards improving the health outcomes for Nigerians.
The Chief Executive of GAVI, Dr Senator Sania Nishtar who was in the Country on an inaugural working visit made the commendations during a grand reception in her honour said the success of GAVI hinges on the success of Nigeria because the country is very important to her organisation.
She disclosed that President Tinubu was very happy about the prospect and plan by GAVI to launch the African Countries Vaccine Manufacture Initiative by June this year.
Her words “Nigeria is a very important country to Us. GAVI has a special strategy for Nigeria. The success of GAVI hinges on the success of Nigeria. I am in Nigeria to listen, learn and understand bottlenecks in the line of delivery. The information gathered here will be included in my strategic plan. “We are grateful for insights provided by the Government and CSO. President Tinubu is championing Human Resources mobilisation for Health and we will continue to support his initiative. We commend the efforts of Prof Ali Pate and Dr Muyi Aina for their efforts”.
In a press statement signed by the Deputy Director & Head of Public Relations, of NPHCDA, Mr Remi Adeleke, the Executive Director of NPHCDA, Dr Muyi Aina who represented the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Ali Pate announced that the Federal Government had released her Counterpart Fund just as it was also committed to fulfilling other obligations.
Aina said the visit of the GAVI Chief Executive was a demonstration of her commitment and support for Nigeria’s Health Care Delivery System.
Nishtar rounded up her working visit to Nigeria with advocacy meetings with the Governor of Sokoto State, the Sultan of Sokoto and some First Class Northern Traditional Rulers.
